On the cold nights of January the wolves howl off in the distance. Their ominous cry, sending a chill deep into the bones that even the fire could not warm. This is the time of the Wolf Moon. Food is now scarce and the night falls early, leaving long cold nights to fight off the darkness.

This is a time of quiet, healing and rest. This is the time the earth sleeps, deep in her bed, preparing for her rebirth. Now is a good time to do the same. Start to think about things you would like to accomplish in the coming year. Then about places you would like to go. Give your body the time to heal and rest that is necessary and needed.

The full moon will rise on January 10, at about 10:40 pm. It will rise higher in the sky than it has in the past few months as the earth begins her shift slowly towards the sun. However for those up north it shall still be many moons till we feel the spring warmth.

As the weather is usually not very friendly at this time of the year, we may not get to view this moon. However, she is visible, she will be bright and shiny and seem to glow with extra brightness, as she will receive extra reflection from the snow and ice all around.

With the weather outside being less than friendly, many of us may have been spending extra time meditating or working with our stones, crystals, cards, etc. This is also a good time to take extra time and care in cleansing these items. There are many ways of doing this, choose which is your favorite way to cleanse your tools. Send an extra thank you to your guides, spirit helpers or send an extra thank you out to the universe. May this time of quiet find you well and may this New Year be bountiful and full of growth for you.
