August Crystal of the Month Peridot

Crystal Meaning: Peridot is associated with love, truth, faithfulness and loyalty and is a very protective stone which shields the aura. It helps us to take responsibility for our own actions and to step out of victim mode. Peridot balances and works as a tonic for body and mind, and is associated with rebirth and renewal of all kinds. It enhances rebirth and renewal of all kinds and allows us to understand and accept changes in life. 

Peridot has been mined from St John's Island (now called Zabargard) in the Red Sea for over 3,500 years.

Magical Use: Peridot assists with personal growth and is reputed to help the individual to understand their spiritual purpose in life. It facilitates the release of old conditioning and negativity, allowing you to understand the lessons contained within and assisting with forgiveness of the self and others which in turn allows you to move forward. It increases intuitive awareness and clarity.

Healing Use: This stone has a very positive effect on the glandular system especially the thymus, and on the heart, lungs, pancreas, spleen and liver. It works as an overall tonic for the body and mind and has a powerful detoxifying effect on the blood. It also helps to heal and regenerate the body tissues. It is also reputed to slow the ageing process and to assist in balancing the emotions in cases of bi-polar disorder.

How to use: Position as appropriate for healing. Wear close to the skin, especially over the liver to aid in detox. Can be worn as jewellery, a pendant covering the throat or thymus where it will help balance the hormones produced. It can also be worn over the heart.

How to Cleanse and Recharge: There are many ways to cleanse and recharge this crystal including, visualisation: Visualise a bright white or golden light, sweeping away imbalances and negativity from the crystal. Or you can cleanse by holding in running water for a short time.

Leaving in direct moonlight during the full moon and using Reiki energy will also cleanse and charge the crystal.
